INTRODCUTION.

There is something to be said about having a skilled operator in the yard. These people know what, where, and how much to cut. They know when to back off, or power through, and they aren’t making excuses. They take pride in keeping the machines they run in top operational condition.
Unfortunately – this is not always your reality.

THE PROBLEM.

Downtime for maintenance and repair can jeopardize productivity.

Skill & pride are variables, and often in short supply. Because of this we have chosen to focus on simplifying the time it takes to maintain a shear – regardless of who is in the cab.
With the latest version of our mobile scrap shear we rethought everything attached to the cutting jaws that requires routine maintenance and upkeep. We optimized other aspects too, while keeping true to the features and performance that make a LaBounty, Legend.

The Goal – minimize downtime without compromising functionality.

The Result – maximized productivity and uptime:

1) Revolutionary, the Only on the market full-protection, indexable DUAL MAX™ Tips maximize protection of parent materials in the upper jaw face (patent protected). The upper face is fully enclosed protecting it from wear and abuse, meaning less downtime for maintenance.
On most all other mobile shears this face is a heavy maintenance area that requires routine welding to build it
up, and hard facing to protect it. Even when performed regularly, those procedures can take 4-5 hours to complete.

2) UP TO 10% MORE FORCE delivered via the apex of the cutting blades. The jaw geometry of the new Legend series has been meticulously designed to maximize the efficiency of all cutting angles, resulting in increased power without the need to change integral, proven components, such as the hydraulic cylinder.

3) WEAR BAR PROTECTION – wear bars protect the most common wear surfaces of the upper and lower jaws. They also act as visual indicator for what surfaces need, or don’t need, maintenance and service.

Wear bars are designed to cut down on the maintenance time of surfaces caused by jaw faces wearing unevenly. Unlike full skins, wear bar kits are made of individually formed rods that run parallel to each other, but are specific to each location. In normal shear operations, typically some areas wear out faster than others. Wear bars allow you to replace only the areas that need it. This saves on welding and limits unproductive downtime.

4) ENHANCED LOWER JAW – higher reliability and a shear life time. The new Legend series jaw now has lower plates that extend farther past the stick connection. This increases structural strength, but also moves the weld joints away from the butt end of the plate. Secondly, dimensional changes to cutting blades allow for plate within the seat pocket to have increased thickness and support.

5) STEADFAST CONTROL means the new Legend Series rotation models are perfectly balanced through the center of rotation. The balance and control is achieved by modifications of the backing plate angle from the stick to rotation. The result is less drift and easier positing, especially in structural demolition application when positioning for each cut can be critical.
