The international exhibition of equipment and technologies in the field of waste management WASMA was held from 02 to 04 March 2021 at VDNKh in Moscow.
Official support for WASMA is provided by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, PPK “Russian Ecological Operator”, the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow Region, the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow, Department housing and communal services and improvement of the city of Moscow, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the V.I. Vernadsky.
The second International Congress of Environmental Technologies was held within the framework of the exhibition.
During the congress discussions, authoritative speakers representing specialized companies in the industry discussed proposals for building a cyclical economy in the field of MSW management, discussed ways to implement investment projects in the field of waste management, and create a waste collection and recycling system. The topic of the introduction and use of information modeling technologies for waste management processes also did not bypass the discussion of the congress.
Roundtable participants demonstrated interesting presentations of successful cases that have already been implemented in Russia. In one of these projects, a technology was presented for the production of an alternative source of protein from insects for poultry, reptiles and fish.
WASMA is not only a place to search for new equipment and technologies, but also a platform for cooperation in order to preserve the environment and introduce the principles of a circular economy in Russia.
Unfortunately, the topic of waste management from the demolition of buildings and structures, which is one of the most pressing issues of the modern construction industry not only in Russia, but also in the world, was not touched upon at the WASMA congress. In this connection, a preliminary agreement was reached between the NADO Association and the organizers of the exhibition to include in the program of the next year’s event a session dedicated to the management of waste from the demolition of buildings and structures with the participation of the NADO Association and member companies and partners of the Association.
